THE 21ST CENTURY IS MARKED BY A STARTLING DISCOVERY: THE EXISTENCE OF A VAST NETWORK OF UNDERGROUND TUNNELS, WHICH ARE POSSIBLY LINKED WORLDWIDE. IN ADDITION TO GROTTOES AND CAVES CREATED BY NATURE, VARIOUS UNDERGROUND TUNNELS AND CHANNELS HAVE BEEN DISCOVERED ALL OVER THE WORLD; THESE UNDERGROUND TUNNELS AND CHANNELS WERE BUILT, ACCORDING TO SCIENTISTS, BY ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS OR BY OTHER CIVILIZATIONS PRECEDING HUMAN CIVILIZATION. WE’RE TALKING ABOUT HUGE SPACES, WHOSE WALLS WERE TREATED FOR PRESERVATION BY MEANS OF METHODS AND TECHNOLOGIES UNKNOWN TODAY.
THE BOTTOMLESS LAKE AND A NEW SCIENCE
Every now and then, all sorts of strange events occurring around the nearby lake are arousing public attention. It is said that the lake, suggestively called “Bezdonii” (bottomless), is connected with the oceans, its depth being unknown. Even on the military maps, its depth is not clearly established, but only approximated from 150 to 200 meters.
The lake is also mentioned in the writings of Russian poet Alexander Blok, where a local forester relates that this water is connected to Earth’s largest oceans through secret channels. Legend has it that over the years, mysterious discoveries have been made on its banks; discoveries of shipwrecks long gone in the tempest of the oceans.
But how could his rescue vest reach from the Indian Ocean in a lost lake in Central Russia, 4000 kilometers away? What was its route? Are these bottomless lake legends real? Are there such unknown underground pathways that connect various points of the planet? In 2003, a rescue life jacket with the insignia of the US Navy came up to the surface of the water.
After the research carried out by the local authorities, it was found that the jacket belonged to American sailor Sam Belovski, from the guided-missile destroyer USS Cole. In October 2000, in the port of Aden in Yemen, a terrorist attack was launched on the ship, resulting in the death of 17 soldiers. Following the bombing, deckhand Sam Belovski deckhand went missing and his body was never found.
Since the 70s, in Russia has emerged, along with speleology, another branch of research that studies the tunnels, passageways, underground caves formed / created other than by nature: artificial structures.
This science is called “spelestology” and the term was first used in Georgia, in a study on Vardzia Monastery, built inside a cave. the most active spelestology group is “Leningrad spelestology party” (abbreviated LSP in Russian). In the past few years, research related to this discipline was intensifying and Russian scientists are increasingly carefully analyzing the hypothesis of the existence of underground intercontinental passageways.
Underground tunnels and caves have always been a topic that has sparked considerable interest among scholars, but also among mystery enthusiasts. Perhaps because there are impenetrable enigmas hiding in the dark or simply because these enigmas open, acceding to the Center of the Earth. A lot of books and compelling stories have been written on this subject. Moreover, hundreds of adventure movies have been made, enriching people’s imagination.
The fact is that they exist everywhere in the world, whether we are talking about newly discovered ancient galleries beneath Jerusalem, about the tunnels under the great pyramids of Egypt or the underground channels dug beneath Mexico.
Archaeologists and scientists alike have increasingly begun to question whether these underground networks were once interconnected. Their length could not be precisely determined for is losing in an endless maze inside the Earth. Also, no one could confirm that they were built during the same period. And yet: when and who created them and for what purpose?
STALIN’S MYSTERIOUS TUNNEL
In Volgograd Oblast, Russia, there is a mountain chain known as Medveditki which since 1997 has been studied in detail by the “Kosmopoisk” organization (also known as Spacesearch). Here was detected and mapped an extensive network of tunnels that has been investigated over a distance of tens of kilometers.
These underground passageways have a diameter of 7 to 20 meters and as they approach the mountain ridge they are expanding more and more, reaching up to 120 meters and turning into a huge hall beneath the mountain. From here, three other tunnels branch out in different angles.
According to Russian spelestologist Anton Anfilov, there is a major hub, a important junction under Medveditki Mountains, a tunnel crossover with tunnels coming from other regions, including the Caucasus. The researcher claims that from here you can enter not only in Crimea but also in the northern regions of Russia, even in the Novaya Zemlya archipelago in the Arctic Ocean and even in North America. This incredible hypothesis is also supported by some ufologists (UFO researchers) who believe that the tunnels are still functional and are being used as transport arteries and the immense underground chambers are being used as stationary bases for some unidentified flying machines (UFOs).
In the Soviet Union in the early 50s, at the proposal of V.I. Stalin has been issued a secret decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on the construction of a tunnel under the Tatar Strait, that separates mainland Russia from Sakhalin Island and connects Sea of Okhotsk, to the north, with the Sea of Japan, to the south.
In terms of triggering the Cold War, in order to counter the threat of US military bases installed in Japan, Stalin ordered the
construction of an underground passageway between Sakhalin and Russia, equipped with a railway.
But in 1953, the supreme leader dies and the project is abandoned. After the collapse of the Soviet empire, the top secret plan was released and in 1991 L.C. Berman, PhD in physico-mechanical sciences, a specialist who had been working in this tunnel for years, made sensational revelations. She confessed that the tunnel had been dug since immemorial times, possibly by another civilization, and that Russian designers had discovered it by chance.
The tunnel had been drawn and built taking into account the difficult geology of the soil beneath the bottom waters. Its walls were very smooth, covered with a material that resembled volcanic lava. But Russian scientists all agreed that that material was not created by nature (naturally formed). After a thorough study, it was concluded that the walls are simultaneously thermally and mechanically driven, and the result was this extremely durable crust with a thickness of 1.5 mm. According to Dr. Berman, not even modern technology could not have been performed such work.
What is really strange is that Dr. Berman’s statements of Russian spelestologist Anton Anfilov. The researcher said that Russia would have been or still is connected with the Far East through underground tunnels.
Dr. Berman’s tunnel leads through the Sakhalin Island in Japan. She also reminded of the discovery of strange objects in the tunnel, of some incomprehensible mechanisms, unknown instruments and equipment and even about fossils of some unidentified animals. Immediately after the abandonment of this colossal and ambitious project, the Soviet secret service took over all these valuable artifacts that “have lost” during decades.
THE CAVES IN THE GRAND CANYON
Archaeological reports attest that on the American continent have been also discovered many ancient tunnels. In 1909, the newspaper “Phoenix Gazette” in Arizona has revealed a fascinating story, titled “Explorations in the Grand Canyon”.
According to the article, explorer G.E. Kincaid, during his expedition in the Grand Canyon, made a startling discovery: a whole underground city, with a tunnel network, in which have been found evidence indicating that ancient civilizations have migrated to America from Orient through these underground pathways.
The researcher demonstrated, apparently convincingly, that the population living in these mysterious caves, deep dug into the rock, was of oriental origin, possibly from Egypt. The publication reports that the team coordinated by Kincaid has discovered a giant chamber of about 1,500 feet (450 meters); dozens of passageways were starting from this chamber, “just like the spokes of a wheel”.
From here they unearthed weapons and various copper tools which strangely could not be attributed to Native American populations; they have also unearthed various tablets engraved with signs and symbols resembling Egyptian hieroglyphics. The article says that Kincaid’s crew has also found a crypt where several mummified adult men bodies were deposited.
“The grave or crypt where the mummies have been found is one of the largest rooms in the underground city. In the bedroom walls were carved some sort of niches, each sheltering one mummy. Along with bones, copper cups and pieces of swords have been also found in the cavities. Some mummies were covered with clay and all were coated with a tree bark material.”
If their theories were correct, then the mystery of the origin of prehistoric populations in Northern America has been solved: Egypt and the Nile, Arizona and the Colorado River were once, millennia ago, connected by a chain of tunnels. Theory surpasses even the most fanciful scenarios.
The evidence is said to have been deposited at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, which appears to have sponsored the expedition of explorer Kincaid. However, there were not found any evidence attesting the existence of ancient artifacts. Moreover, has not been found any clue about what happened to explorer Kincaid after the expedition. He seems to have vanished into the air.
Although the existence of the American explorer and its findings cannot be proven, a strange fact deepens the mystery. Within a few years after the article was published, Federal government of the United States has denied access to the area; penetration into that space without permission was illegal. The only ones to whom was given permission to cross that territory were Native Americans.
It is well known that in the canyons of Arizona there are a lot of grottoes, cavities and caves, most of which were discovered by climbers. Their names suggest a connection with ancient Egypt: the Tower of Seth, Tower of Ra, Temple of Horus (Temple of Edfu).
THE MYSTERIOUS TEOTIHUACAN TUNNEL
Recently, archaeologists have discovered a 1,800-year old tunnel that leads to an entire gallery system, 12 meters below the Temple of the Plumed Serpent in Mexico. The city of Teotihuacan was built by a relatively little-known population which reached its peak between 100 BC and 750 AD. The temple was erected between 150 and 200 AD. For unknown reasons, the city was abandoned until the arrival of the Aztec populations in 1300 AD. They also named the city “Teotihuacan”, which means “the place where men become gods”.
Excavations conducted for uncovering tunnels have begun in 2003 and were the most extensive excavations ever conducted in an archaeological site. The architect Sergio Gomez, the project initiator, said that the underground passageway unfolds beneath the Temple of the Plumed Serpent – the most important building in the citadel – and the entrance is located a few meters from the temple. “The access into the tunnel is done through a 5 meter wide well. We have discovered a 100-meter long corridor that ends in a number of galleries dug into solid rock.”
HISTORICAL UNDERGROUND CROSSING THE GLOBE
Although it is not known exactly when dates tunnel, investigations so far have shown that the tunnel was built before the temple and has been closed by the population of Teotihuacan for strange reasons. However, what was the purpose of this tunnel? Sergio Gomez believed it was linked to the “underground world” concept. “The tunnel was probably the central element, the main element, around which the ceremony center was constructed. This was a sacred place.”
The Beskids are stretching from the Czech Republic in the west along the border of Poland with Slovakia, in Central Europe. Babia (Babia Gora), its highest peak, is situated on the border between Poland and Slovakia, at 1,725 meters (5,659 ft) above sea level.
In the folklore of the two peoples there are many legends related to this peak. It is said that local residents are keeping secret the existence of a secret tunnel under the mountain. A few years ago, a local Polish newspaper has published the story of Stanislaw Poniatowski, one of the inhabitants of the village of Zawoja. He related that in the ’60s, his father revealed him the secret of the mountains. They left the village together and walked in the direction of “Queen Babia”; reaching a height of about 600 meters, his father stopped and told him that there he will see another world and he is about to unveil a secret which is passed down from generation to generation. With a tremendous effort, they have set aside a cliff and beneath it Stanislaw saw a wide opening well, leading to the core of the Earth. “The walls were smooth and shiny, as if they were covered with glass.
My father threw a rope and we started abseiling. Strangely, the air was dry inside. We have abseiled a few meters until we reached a tunnel. Then we continued our journey through the tunnel, which was slightly tilted to the earth’s core, up to a spacious, oval shaped room.
Several tunnels were starting from there, in all directions. My father told me that following their route, from here from here one can reach destinations in other countries and even other continents. Tunnels on the left are leading to Germany and even further, to England, to America; tunnels of the right are stretching through Russia and then China and Japan, all up in America, where they are knotted again with the left side tunnels.”
The story of the Polish Stanislaw Poniatowski seems incredible, but in it we find common elements to other testimonies from other continents and from different periods of time. According to studies conducted by Russian scientists from “Leningrad spelestological movement”
“Many of them have collapsed, others have not even been discovered, therefore such a hypothesis will be difficult to prove. We are currently working on a network map. But for now everything is approximate, as we don’t own complete information and Africa, India and Australia have not been yet studied”, says P. Mirosnicenko, one of the LSP researchers.
According to his statement, it is believed that these tunnels have been created by ancient civilizations or unknown civilizations to take refuge in the case of natural disasters. Cyclically, our planet is hit by all sorts of natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, asteroid collisions, as happened about 65 million years ago when after an asteroid impact, dinosaurs and most creatures of the planet have disappeared.
Perhaps the lost civilizations owned such information and in order to avoid the disastrous consequences of catastrophes, they have created all over the planet a network of underground structures where they could shelter.
